Gabriela Torres-Mazuera presents "The Ayuntamiento Rise and the Ejido Fall. Sociopolitical Reconfiguration of Decentralized Mexican Rural Space." Gabriela is a postdoctoral fellow of the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies. She earned a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the Institute of Economic and Social Development Studies at the Sorbonne-Pantheon University in Paris. Gabriela is coeditor of ¿Ruralidad sin agricultura? erspectivas multidisciplinarías de una realidad fragmentada (in press), published by El Colegio de México. She has participated in various research projects about the conformation of urban spaces and in 1998 coordinated a multidisciplinary research project, “ZMVM 2030”, which studied the process of metropolization of the Mexico valley. Her current research interests address institutional change in rural Mexico.
