Beatriz Mariscal Hay is currently a guest scholar at the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies and in the Department of Literature. She is a professor of Literature at El Colegio de Mexico. Mariscal earned her Ph.D. in Literature from the University of California, San Diego, while simultaneously working as the Research Assistant and Post Doctoral Researcher for CILAS. She has published approximately 30 books and over 100 articles on Medieval and Golden Age Spanish literature, Mexican Colonial literature, and oral traditions. Presently, Mariscal is a member of UC Mexicanistas and the Vice President of the International Association of Hispanists.
