Research Project: The children's body in Latin-American school: Narratives and representations, 1880-1940
Research Interests: physical culture models developed in Latin America that ran between Europe and America; the cultural and physical YMCA project; and the visibility of the rural female population in sports and social activities of the rural community
Lucia Martinez Moctezuma is a research professor at Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos, with a staunch interest in school issues in the 19th and 20th centuries. She holds a doctorate in history from the Université Paris X Nanterre.
Her recent research projects are narrow in on reading practices, the teaching of Spanish to indigenous populations and the moral and physical development of the young Mexican citizen. Martinez Moctezuma has collaborated with international research teams at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, the International Center for School Culture directed by Agustín Escolano and the Service d'Histoire de l'Éducation of the Institut de la Recherche Pedagogique. Outside of her research, Martinez Moctezuma enjoys photography and cinema.
