Academic Background
Tomás Jiménez received his B.S. from Santa Clara University and his A.M. and Ph.D. from Harvard University. Before coming to UCSD, he was a Congressional Fellow in the office of U.S. Congressman Michael Honda. His research focuses on immigration, race, ethnicity, inequality, and assimilation. He is currently completing a book manuscript, which examines how Mexican immigration influences the assimilation of established, long-standing Mexican Americans. Professor Jiménez is also a fellow at the New America Foundation.
