Overview
Economic Policy Fellowship
2008-2009 Competition
A consensus has developed among Mexican policymakers that only by restructuring the economy can the country increase its global competitiveness and prospects for all citizens. The Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies at the University of California, San Diego invites applications (open to applicants from any discipline) for research related to economic policy in Mexico. We encourage scholars that examine Mexico’s financial infrastructure and take on such tasks as identifying barriers to entrepreneurship and several other elements of Mexico’s economy. Economic Policy Fellows can be either postdocs or ABD doctoral students and are expected to be in residence for a period of one to two academic years and to teach an average of one class per year in an academic unit of UCSD.
Stipends are commensurate with experience and academic rank. Special funding is available for citizens of Mexico or recent graduates with advanced degrees from any campus of the University of California system. Candidates should apply for an Economic Policy Fellowship as part of the Center’s annual Visiting Fellows Program competition.
The Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies is an organized research unit of UCSD dedicated to research on Mexico and U.S.-Mexican relations. The Center’s programs include an active visiting scholars program, an annual Summer Seminar in U.S. Studies, research projects related to policy and policymaking in Mexico, and a series of conferences and workshops.
