Academic Background

Imke studied political science at Leiden University in the Netherlands, and at the University of California in Berkeley. From 2004 to 2005 she worked as junior researcher at the German Development Institute in Bonn. In 2009, Imke received the Rudolf Wildenmann Prize of the European Consortium for Political Research. Her dissertation examines the impact of decentralization on Latin American parties and party systems. After her residence at USMEX, she will take a position at the University of Amsterdam as assistant professor of political science and fellow at the Centre for Latin American Research and Documentation (Cedla).
