Biography
Bernardo Gomez is a Ph.D candidate in global development studies at Universidad Autónoma de Baja California. He received a master’s degree in international administration from the Universidad Iberoamericana, where he studied how different cultures respond toward motivation in a maquila setting, and holds a bachelor’s degree in international business from Centro de Enseñanza Técnica y Superior.
In his dissertation, Gomez addresses how youth in San Diego and Tijuana are experiencing their aspirations and expectations toward attaining a college degree. He addresses cultural capital in border crossing, parental involvement and economic status of the ever-so intertwined future generation.
