- Energy and Sustainability Summer Bootcamp
In the context of a global energy transition, the Center— with the support of Sempra— launched the Energy and Sustainability Summer Bootcamp to strengthen dialogue and collaboration between Mexican and U.S. energy professionals. The program fosters a deeper understanding of current energy trends and the growing importance of renewable energy in shaping a sustainable future.
The bootcamp provides a space to reflect on the future of the U.S.-Mexico bilateral relationship in the energy sector and to promote closer cross-border collaboration toward sustainability, innovation, and shared regional resilience.
The program is designed for early-career policymakers from Mexico and the United States — at both the federal and local levels — as well as young professionals from the private sector and civil society working in the energy and electricity sectors in both countries.
The bootcamp combines virtual sessions with a four-day field visit to San Diego, California.
Online sessions take place on Fridays and Saturdays.
Each session runs approximately three hours and includes dedicated time for discussion and participant engagement.
Most sessions are conducted in Spanish. Sessions in English include Spanish interpretation.
The program offers a comprehensive overview of the energy sector, covering:
Technology, policy, regulation, and finance
Global energy trends and local implementation challenges
Environmental impacts, including air quality, water resources, land use, and climate change
The energy sector’s role in Mexico
The U.S.-Mexico bilateral relationship
The binational border region
Participants also examine opportunities and barriers to cross-border cooperation and explore practical pathways for strengthening binational collaboration in the energy sector.
